What to look out for when buying a mobile home.

In Spain there are now a lot of resale mobile homes for sale. Why you might ask? The answer is quite simple. Firstly Spain does not suit everybody. Those who expect everything to be perfect and everything done on time should never consider moving to Spain. Secondly there are those who bought their mobile home either new or resale on a park that looked fantastic in the bright sunshine or out of season only to find it either very boring on the odd occasion it rains or very busy if it is a joint camping-mobile home park in the summer. Lastly there are those who did not look into the overall costs properly and when paying more than 400 Euros a month which some coastal parks charge their savings soon start to disappear.

Before even considering buying a mobile home or relocating a mobile home it is very important that you get as much information about the different parks that are advertised on the Internet by the few companies that are still operating in Spain. A lot of information can be gathered from the comfort of your own home via email. Here is a list of questions you might like to ask as quite a few parks give the impression that they are perfect in every way and it is only when you get the answers to these questions do you get a true idea as to what the park is really like.

  1. Does the park allow normal campers onto the park and if so how many pitches are there for motorhomes, caravans and tents? If the answer is yes then it is NOT residential.

  2. Are the plots for mobile homes 200 sq mtrs and do they have proper concrete bases? If plots are less than 200 sq mtrs, again it is not designed as residential.

  3. What is the full park fees per month and how much did they increase last year?

  4. Are non residents allowed to use any of the advertised facilities on the park?

  5. How far to the local village and what facilities are there in the village?

  6. Is a car essential as far as living on a park is concerned?

  7. What information is there regarding local health care and above all the location of the nearest hospital?

  8. How many people are living on the park now.

Any company or park should be more than willing to answer all the questions. If the park is a camping-mobile home park then at least you know well in advance. These parks are ideal if you want to be able to let your home out as a holiday home. If the park is a residential park then you know it will be more established as a community and very village like.

Doing the homework is so important and quite often having dealt with someone via email it is possible to go and speak to them at one of the many shows that are held in the UK every year.
